Dubber and Jez are members of the Interactive Cultures Research Unit and are behind the Music As Culture project.
Right now, we're in Delhi on a practice-based research project for Birmingham City University. We are working with Music Basti to record an album of children's songs, performed by children affected by poverty, homelessness and abuse. The album will be released online to raise money for the project, which effects change in these children's lives through music.
Our research is about how to tell these sorts of stories and connect music with culture and social change in the online environment. This blog will capture that experience through videoblogs and photography of our time here.
If you go back in the archives, we were in Colombia from the 15th-24th of May for Unconvention MedellĂn - an independent music industry conference, where we also had plenty of adventures.
Back in November last year, were were in India for Un-Convention Mumbai, and spent a week or so travelling the country, meeting all sorts of interesting people and figuring out just how the music industries work in India. There was so much to learn, and a great deal to take in. Go back through the archives to experience that adventure...
On this site you'll meet the people we're working with, see the places we go - and hopefully learn some of the things we've learned along the way.
